Energy Transition: Renewable Energy and Simple Living

Let’s turn our attention to the Energy Transition now underway at a macro-level in society, and what is implied by electrification of the economy, both politically and for households. As ever, permaculture highlights that consumption and lifestyle choices matter enormously. Time is short for effective action on climate change, while ignorance, disinformation, and active opposition remain big obstacles. Where are the leverage points, and how should we shape expectations, both our own and for others around us? Special guest Ryan Zaricki, mechanical engineer, solar installer, and owner of Whole Sun Designs will join GRLPI board member and rooftop solar pioneer Peter Bane, for a stimulating discussion.

Bio: Peter Bane is the Executive Director of Permaculture Institute of North America, fulfilling a more than 30-year career in teaching, design, and publishing. A co-founder of Earthaven Ecovillage, and a solar energy and simple living pioneer, he is the author of The Permaculture Handbook: Garden Farming for Town and Country, and farms 18 acres with his family in Lower Michigan.
