  • The Global Gardener: Cool Climates

Bill Mollison’s Classic 4 Episode Series from 1991 is a great 2 hour overview of Permaculture around the world. The Cool Climates Episode has many classic interviews and tours of early pioneer’s sites including Robert Hart & his temperate Food Forest in England, Permaculture Co-Originator, David Holmgren and his site Melliodora in Victoria, Australia and the Bullock Brothers site on Orcas Island in Washington State. Many of these sites though are Coastal Cool Climates over our Continental Cool Climate here in the Midwest with extreme heat and cold but there are many great ideas applicable to our region.

There should be a link to Part 2 after watching Part 1 of the Cool Climates Episode

  • The History of Permaculture with David Holmgren

This is a great, short candid documentary about how Bill Mollison and David Holmgren came up with the concept for Permaculture based on western ecological awareness in the early 1970’s, as told by David Holmgren. Their work together culminated in the publishing of the first book on Permaculture, Permaculture One by Mollison & Holmgren in 1978

  • A Recent Tour of the Oldest Permaculture Homestead

Holmgren shares his experiences of Designing, Building and living off of his homestead with his partner Su Dennett over the last 35+ years in this wonderful video. They produce 60% of their food and 80% of the economic value of their food, primarily supplementing that extra with staple crops.
